JENS STREIT

Mr Jens Streit is an experienced advocate and has represented a range of private and Government clients, across both Queensland and Commonwealth jurisdictions.

He commenced practice as a barrister and solicitor in Tasmania in 1998 and was called to the Queensland Bar in 2012.

Mr Streit’s practice is focused in the areas of criminal law, regulatory proceedings, inquests and inquiries. He regularly appears as defence counsel in jury trials and in criminal circuits in regional Queensland.

He has been appointed to the role of counsel assisting in public and private inquiries and corruption investigations, including being responsible for leading small teams of lawyers.

Prior to being called to the Queensland Bar, Mr Streit served as a senior legal officer in the Australian Defence Force, both in Australia and overseas. He appeared as a senior prosecutor in military trials and as counsel in military inquiries into the deaths of Australian Defence Force members.

Outside of private practice, Mr Streit has held part-time statutory appointments in both Queensland and Commonwealth jurisdictions.

Mr Streit holds a Master of Laws from the University of Melbourne and degrees in law and commerce from the University of Tasmania.

Mr Streit accepts briefs throughout Queensland and interstate.
